The concept of the design is to create a calm and relaxing feeling for the visitors and the staff using the clinic. An earthy color pallet was chosen to mimic the nature’s colors and evoke the sense of tranquility and openness. Elements of biophilia were added to enhance the visitor’s mood using vegetation, prints, materials, and water features. The sound of water is not only used to create a calming environment, but also used as a masking sound to protect the speech privacy. Indirect light was used in all the patient’s area to decrease the uneasiness of direct light especially to the autistic children. Easy circulation is achieved through clear pathways and signage. The design is inclusive with special considerations to bariatric and wheel chair users. Overall, the design aims to create a welcoming environment which in turn will enhance the treatment outcomes.
